Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE), an organization under Local Government Division. The Public Health Engineering Department was established in 1935 by imparting responsibility for the development of public health through the supply of safe water. Later, in 1954, it was associated with sanitation services. After the independence of Bangladesh in 1971, the government first emphasized the need for rehabilitating the disrupted water supply and sanitation methods, and after that the establishment of new infrastructure was started by the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE), in line with this, nowadays, the responsibility of building and managing the safe water and sanitation system of the country except WASA Adoption Vested ray. Currently, there is an official safe drinking water source for 88 people in rural areas and currently water supply coverage has been increased to 87%.
